After arriving in Prauge we decided to walk the 30 minutes from the train station to our Airbnb. The walk went right through the center of Old Town and across the iconic Charles Bridge to the Malá Strana neighborhood. Malá Strana is incredibly central and we stayed right on the main drag (aka tourists everywhere) but our Airbnb was off the street and felt like a little oasis amongst the hustle and bustle.

Rain was in the forecast for our first full day so we decided to stay close to home. One of the advantages of staying in Malá Strana is it lies just below the famous Prague Castle, which was built in the 9th century and now serves as both a tourist attraction and the office of the President of the Czech Republic. On the grounds are a number of gardens, old churches, palaces, and other buildings. It was only a 15 minute walk up the hill and while it ended up dumping rain, the weather seemed to add to the medieval feel.

The next day we got up early to do some sightseeing across the Charles Bridge into Old Town before it got packed with tourists. We were very glad we did! Walking around with near empty streets gave us an opportunity to really appreciate the beauty of this city. We went by a number of go-to spots including the Astronomical Clock (third-oldest astronomical clock in the world and the oldest clock still in operation), Old Town Square, and Powder Tower (one of the original city towers from the 15th century), to name a few. On the way back we stopped by the John Lennon wall in Malá Strana and after a quick breather back at the Airbnb, we went out for some classic Czech beers and snacks before walking up to, and all over, the expansive Letna Park which overlooks the city. When it was all said and done we covered some serious ground in Prague!

In the morning we retraced our steps back across town to the train station.
Onward to Vienna!
